ONE OR TWO HEARING AIDS?

Having two hearing aids (binaural) may not equate to hearing twice as well, however there are several advantages to having two aids. Binaural hearing provides sound localization. When an approaching ambulance is heard, having the sound in stereo allows your brain to determine whether the siren is coming from the left or the right. In other situations, people may be talking to you on your unaided ear. Having binaural hearing in this situation improves your position. When there is background noise, binaural hearing provides additional information for you to discriminate your focus (speech) from the background (noise).
