Medical Therapy

What is the treatment for sinusitis?

Medical therapy

Most sinusitis is treated initially with medications.  Since there are many types of sinusitis, the decisions made regarding the medical therapy of sinusitis are best made on an individual basis.  In general, aggressive medical therapy usually includes nasal rinses, topical nasal medications, medications that reduce swelling and inflammation, and antibiotics.  Some sinusitis patients do not fully respond to medications and require intervention.

Office procedures

Our doctors utilize all of the options available today to attempt to clear sinusitis without surgery.  Sometimes this includes accessing the sinuses in the office in an attempt to rinse them, obtain cultures, and open them.
